Principal's Message

Mr Craig Speechley,

Dear Cold Springs Families,

It is an honor and a privilege to introduce myself as the newly appointed Principal of Cold Springs Elementary School. I look forward to developing positive relationships with all of our wonderful students, families, educators, and community members. While I have always eagerly anticipated the beginning of the school year, this September is particularly meaningful because this is the first year that I am able to serve the children and families of Gloucester City as principal.

As we all know, our school environment and our world looks a little different this year. Please know that the health, safety, and well-being of our students, families, and staff has been and will continue to be at the forefront of our decision-making process. Some of our procedures have changed, but we will continue our commitment to helping all children develop their intellectual capacity, academic skills, and social competence so that they will be prepared to effectively negotiate the demands associated with living in an ever-changing 21st century. Beyond the rigors of their academic program, it is our aim to instill the essential principles of pride, respect, and responsibility within all of our students in order to develop productive and contributing members of society.

Regardless of whether we are learning remotely or in-person, the high expectations that have been established by our dedicated staff, will be maintained while also providing a safe and nurturing student-centered community that fosters respect for individual differences. We will strive to make the learning process a positive and rewarding experience while maintaining a desire to develop a generation of inquisitive young people who will become lifelong learners in their various pursuits of excellence.

I am also extremely excited about working with the active and involved parents that help to make Cold Springs a wonderful place for our students to learn and grow. A quality educational experience begins with an active partnership between home and school.  In an effort to keep you informed, please visit our website and social media platforms for the most up to date information about all things Cold Springs!

We are excited to get the new school year underway! Although there will be many changes for this year, we cannot wait to get back into our classrooms (physically and virtually) and begin our work with our students and our families.

Please know that I am always available to discuss any questions or concerns related to serving you and the children of Cold Springs.

Go Lions!

Educationally Yours,

Craig Speechley

Mrs. Kate Kearney,
Assistant Principal

Hello, everyone,

Thank you for visiting our web site and welcome to Cold Springs School! The administration, teachers and staff strive to make our school a safe, nurturing place where students are actively engaged in their learning.

I am so happy to be a part of the team here at Cold Springs. This commences my 26th year in the Gloucester City School District, where I have been fortunate enough to serve the students of Gloucester City in all three buildings, across many roles and grade levels.

My experience at the elementary level is especially rewarding. Here, we lay the foundation for our students in literacy, math and science. Here, students develop their wonder for learning. Their identity as students is formed. At Cold Springs we believe every child can learn and thrive academically, socially and emotionally. Every member of the Cold Springs staff is invested in helping students succeed.

Please feel free to contact me any time. My door is always open. I find that when students, parents and teachers work as a team, our students excel. I look forward to working with you.
